Teacher’s Pet is a term most adults will deny, as will most students. However, there is usually one in each class. Sure there are strict teachers who have no student pets.

That is the way it should be. Otherwise, that student risks sliding by, not on their own merits, but by being a favorite. Without the effort to learn and excel in school, there is little learning being done, if any. Why would any teacher do that to their students?

Now look past the education and into the work place. How many of you are employers, or work for one, who favor certain employees? Do you give them easier tasks than others, more paid time off, cover for them repeatedly when they make mistakes, frequently take them out to lunch or hang out after work?

I used to be favorite employee, one you could call a boss’s pet. All the other employees knew it. Some just took it in stride while others made fun. No matter to me, since I was the one who benefited. The difference between them and me was I was willing to put the time in by helping out wherever I was needed, including working 36 hour shifts, all while continue to increase my skills through technical college.

What if that employer was actually an affiliate manager? Then how would you look at it? Say for example you supported your team day and night, providing training and support 6 days a week.

All while you were doing that, another affiliate was reaping the rewards by being given more important titles and benefiting from your labor? How would you feel? Would you do or say anything to the manager, or just continue like nothing happened?

What if you shook that tree so to speak and the manager cut it down by putting you into a position that made you want to leave? How would you feel or react?

These things happen more often than you think in the world of affiliate marketing. Most affiliates have no clue that it is really happening to them. Instead, they continue to slave away recruiting, watching their checks grow slowly, not realizing that their sponsor was putting in half the effort, but being handed the silver platter.

In many affiliate programs, the structure prevents anyone from knowing how anyone is positioned other than their own referrals. If you are in one that allows you to see referrals other than your own, but in your downline like most matrices are formed, be careful of being played like a rag doll. Some managers like to move people around at will for the benefit of their Teacher’s Pets, not considering those who could get hurt in the process.
