You have probably seen many sites on which webmasters try to generate more income by adding PayPal Donate buttons in their sidebars. This is particularly true of bloggers who give their information away for free and ask only that you donate so that they may continue to add more posts with new tips.

The one problem with that is PayPal does not like people using the Donate option if they are not non-profit organizations. The donations are reserved for recognized charities and PayPal tend to freeze accounts if there are too many donations.

One way around that is to reword your request with something like, "Buy Me A Coffee", or  "Support This Blog" like we did on the Website Managers Blog. We made our own button for it and created a "Hosted Button" so the form properties are hidden. When you click that button, it allows you to enter your own amount into the payment form.

You could go one step further and create the button as a service payment. That is the truth too, since when providing information, a free report or free software, you are providing a service. So if you are asking for donations without being a recognized charity, you may want to consider changing the button and the payment method.
