So there is a scholarship that is due November 30th that is available to only people in my school and no one in my school has applied and I'm the only one.

Through all my years in the city of X, I have seen many of my friends take the wrong paths; some became gang affiliated, while others dropped out of school. These problems hurt our community and give it a bad reputation. Ever since I was small, I have always wanted to change my community. The citizens of X must realize the opportunities available and that are greater opportunities await them with a college education.
In order to promote positive change, I have to start with myself first. I can’t change others unless I change myself. I must make the right decisions, stay away from problems, and encourage others to do the same. Promoting positive change is simple as giving advice to a friend or encouraging a peer to do better in school. I have always noticed our troubling school system, so I have taken the initiative to make positive change by being involved in such programs as Link Crew. I n Link Crew I try to motivate the underclassmen to increase their grades. I have tried to motivate some of my friends to join Link Crew in order to help other students, that way the upper class men can be looked at as role models ; the under class men will succeed in school. I am the president of the environmental club and thought the environmental club I try to promote environmental awareness and foster environmental awareness. We have had several city cleanups. I hope that the members of the club are able to take the knowledge that they gain from the club and apply I to their community. Hopefully recycling, reusing and reducing. This will allow our community to be more environmentally friendly. I hope do one day do something greater than this.
I participated in X City Hall for government day and through government day; I learned that politics is able to help many people. I want to pursue a career as a politician so I may come back to X and promote change. I hope to go to the high school and talk to the students about the opportunities available and if there are no opportunities then they must create them. If students create opportunities, they will be able to better themselves and their community. As of right now, I am deeply concerned with the lack of education many students are reviewing so I think we it is important to let the students know the right classes they must take. I never had anyone guide me thought my high school career, so I am trying to promote positive change by informing the underclass men on the path they must take. I believe counselor must sit and talk to freshmen about their future and college. This way, the students won’t fall into the working class of physical labor like the majority of X. And with their success, they can break the cycle of poverty that plagues some families.
As a community, X is often criticized for its lack of knowledge. This should not be something to criticize, but we should improve on this. We live in a country where everyone has an opportunity and we as X citizens should take advantage of the different opportunities.. We have the opportunity to go to the best universities despite our parents background . I plan to come back to the city of X and continue my goal to promote positive change in my community
