I had my first prenatal visit yesterday with a new dr., the NP asked me about previous pregnancies I had. I have 2 children, but this isn't my 3rd pregnancy. I aborted a pregnancy. So I was caught off guard when she asked how many pregnancies I had. I kind of studdered a bit and mentioned that I had been pregnant 3 times (this being my fourth now), so the nurse assumed i miscarried and I didn't correct her...and we didn't go into any other details. Its NOT something I am happy about and I'm rather regretful over that decision (although at the time it felt like the best decision) ANyway...do I need to tell them I had an abortion or can I let them assume it was a miscarry? Both times giving birth I had excellent pregnancies with no complications. How important is it that they know about it....what if they ask me next visit about what happened? I was told that my next visit we will be discussing my pregnancies....Like I said its something I'm rather ashamed of and wish I Had never done...I don't like talking about it. But this being my dr...(who is affiliated with a Catholic hospital...they won't perform vasectomies or tube tying because it goes against the religion!) should he know this? I'm afraid of being judged about this. Especially where I had given birth to my daughter and a year later aborted the 2nd pregnancy and then a year after that got pregnant again with my 2nd child (all with the same man mind you we are married-we were just in a bad situation financially and thought it was impossible to have a second one while I was just finishing a certificate program...not sure why I"m even trying to justify my reasoning to all of you, like it really matters.) I have to say I am awfully grateful to all of you ladies offering great advise and with no judgement...alot of times on here you get the jerks who just want to bash you for poor decisions...I really appreciate the words of advise.
