Sometimes when you choose an affiliate product to promote through ClickBank, the vendor page has links to other affiliate programs. That has the potential to steal your customers. By using your own product overview page and linking directly to the ClickBank order page, you can bypass the vendor site and keep your customers from wandering off.

The first step is to choose the product you want to sell. Go to the ClickBank Marketplace and enter a single keyword. Entering multiple keywords will show products that include either keyword and not necessarily those that contain both.

To use an example, I entered “super affiliate handbook”. The results showed all products containing “super”, “affiliate” or “handbook”, but not the “Super Affiliate Handbook”. When I entered the author name, “Rosalind Gardner”, there was only one result – “The Super Affiliate Handbook”. So when you can, use the author name instead of the product name. You will see all products by that author.

Another example is, “Jimmy D. Brown”. Note that there is a difference with the spelling. If you leave off the period after his middle initial, the results will be completely different.

To narrow your search even more, select the language you want to see. Leaving it at “All” will show you English, Spanish, French and German results. Also select the category to narrow your search even more by choosing only products you want to see. If you are looking for Business to Business, choose that or you will also see products in categories such as “Sports & Recreation”.

Once you select the top category, the sub-category box is filled with options to refine your search even more. This helps get real focused on your search. This option can also make your search return zero results if the author did not select it when listing the product.

When you find a product to sell, click the link below it that says, “create hoplink”. A window will pop up with two options: Your ClickBank ID and the tracking tag. The tracking tag is useful for tracking where the sales are coming from when you promote the product on multiple pages or websites.

The link that is given you will lead visitors to the website where the vendor has their sales page set up. While that is used in most cases by affiliates who are not creating their own product review pages, it is not always what you want. If you already did a review and sales page for that product, your visitors will not want to read it again. The better method is to bypass that page and go directly to the order page.

You need the vendor ID, product ID and the link to put them all together. Rosalind Gardner has a video on her blog that explains “How to Link Directly to a ClickBank Product Order Page“.
