If you have been following our instructions on how to use Yahoo! Answers to promote your business, you will find that your competitors are using it too. Most of the time the competing links will co-exist without any problems. Adding a link to your website in the resource box on relevant questions can generate new business for you.
Note that you will not add a link on every answer because unless you are very choosy about the questions you answer, not everyone deserves a link. Keep it relevant to the question and within the Yahoo! Answers guidelines and your link will get noticed, clicked and indexed by the search engines.
What happens though, when your competitors complain about your posts? That is an unscrupulous method some use to get the competing answers removed from the question. Not only does that hurt your chances for that particular question, it also decreases the number of links to your site. You might think it would only be reduced by one link, but multiple search engines index Yahoo! Answers, making the effective loss even greater.
What can you do to stop the complaints? First, like I mentioned, make sure you are within the Yahoo! Answers guidelines. Click the help link on the top right of any page to review the terms of service.
Next, when a complaint is filed about you, Yahoo! sends you an email. That email contains a link to contest the complaint. If you know you are within the guidelines, click that link and follow the instructions. Every complaint is investigated by Yahoo! staff before removing the post.
Also, just as having too many validated complaints can get your account closed, the same holds true for issuing those complaints. Your competitors may think they are harming you, but if you contest the complaint and are found innocent, your competitor is flagged with submitting an erroneous complaint. Getting too many flags of that type can leave you with one less competitor in Yahoo! Answers.
